Heard by millions since 1993 as MCI’s English operator voice on various products such as 1-800-COLLECT and MCI’s “The Neighborhood Message Center” (voice mail), Pam Bassett’s personable voice is available in your “neighborhood” from her home studio in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. or recording locally in DC, Maryland or Virginia.
Some of these and other products Pam recorded for MCI over the years continued as products managed by Verizon Business or in Verizon’s name after Verizon purchased MCI in 2006.
If you hear Pam’s operator voice in a production in which she is unaware, you could win a free dinner for two! (Her voice was featured in Adam Sandler’s movie “Big Daddy” and in an episode of “The Sopranos.”)
Pam’s home studio allows her to turn around projects quickly without sacrificing quality and allows her to provide whatever corporate narration “flavor” your project needs — from project type including commercials, explainer videos / narration, announcer, podcasts, all things telephony (phone greetings, customer service prompts, audio on hold for IVR – Interactive Voice Response systems) and more to voice style and delivery to file type (including unusual ones related to telephony / IVR – Interactive Voice Response systems).
Add Pam Bassett’s voice and experience to your team and you’ll have an additional asset working with you to make your next project sound great.

What do Pam Bassett and Steve Burns of “Blue’s Clues” have in common?
“A clue! A clue! (Or more than two!)
Pam’s “operator voice” highlighted in the fourth 1-800-COLLECT commercial (called “Date”) in the video at the top of the page appears to also feature Steve Burns of “Blues Clues” fame as a New York Times article mentions, “He [Burns] later moved to New York City and slept on friends’ couches while getting gigs like the 1-800-Collect voice-over and a role on “Law & Order” (as an autistic guy who dies).”

Back ‘in the day’, the way we “were” . . . we had mailboxes, red phones, and things that were blue . . . and we both liked getting mail (including voicemail)! 🙂

We were both ‘originals’ in our respective ‘over the air’ space . . . and we both enjoyed “Blue’s Clues” and we both like dogs. (My daughter and I enjoyed Blue’s ‘original’ friend, owner ‘Steve’ . . . when we weren’t in Ashburn where I recorded customer service prompts at the old UUNet / MCI / Verizon facility.)

The way we ‘were’ . . .
